Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year. In 2021, it fell on July 29.

In this work, Mutel includes a list of Overshoot days since 1970, and the projected date going forward based on our current rate of consumption—in 2084 Overshoot Day is project to land on January 1. 16 copperplate etchings are accompanied by Mutel poetic and meditative text, which ends on a note of hope and light.
