The Book of Beds (1934)
$450
[BEDS.] W&S [Firm]. The Book of Beds. Wire Mattresses, All Sorts Cots, Divan Beds, Bedding, Metal Door Mats and Other Articles.
[Birmingham], 1934
(14.5 x 18.5 cm). Oblong. 242 pp. Original publisher’s thick paper wrappers. A well-preserved copy, whose thickness has led to some curving of the spine, a faint crease in the front cover, but an otherwise near fine copy with the illustrated pages bright and fresh. Printed by Silk and Terry, Birmingham.
This catalog of beds and associated bedding, mattresses, pillows, etc., is handsomely illustrated with colorful images of hundreds of productions. The items are described in detail, including physical dimensions, the wood, metal, fabric, etc., used in the manufacturing, and the prices of each item.

The catalog includes the “Cabinetta Crush-up” bed, a traveling cot popular among officers in WWI, that accordion-folds into a wood cabinet-like frame. The firm offered articles “from the cheapest to the best” and guaranteed satisfaction in their products.
