(28.7 x 22.9 cm). XXVII [XXVIII], [2] pp. including frontispiece and 4 engravings in preliminaries, 30 full-page plates, [4] (table and colophon) pp. Publisher's original printed wrappers folded over stiff card covers. Spine slightly faded, nevertheless a fine copy—uncommon in this condition.

Edition of 660 copies, this one of 600 on wove paper (no. 282).

The work includes three texts: Morand article devoted to the Franco-Japanese painter, in whom “the East and the West have merged", “Souvenirs d’Enfance” by the artist, and a “Commentaire” by the Belgian writer and poet Charles-Albert Cingria (1883-1954).

The illustration has 5 full-page black illustrations in the text, including a frontispiece by Foujita, and 30 heliogravures hors texte in sepia reproducing Foujita’s works.

Tsuguharu Foujita (1886-1968) was a Japanese-French painter, and a fixture in the international modern art movement based in Montparnasse. Foujita reached the height of his fame in 1920s Paris, and was notable for his avant garde as well as commercial success.
